WALTER HACKS (Henry Woodard) is an 11 year-old boy who goes through a transformation over one summer. His youth is tested as are his friendships and his relationship with his brother. He is forced to grow up fast.

This is Henry Woodard’s first feature film, but he has appeared in several shorts.

CLIFFORD HACKS (Matthew Woodard) is Walter’s older brother. Seemingly brooding and distant, Clifford is protective of Walter and struggling to be strong in the face of enormous challenges. He loves his brother Walter and would do anything to keep things together, if only he knew how.

This is Matthew’s first feature and he has appeared in several short films. He is currently a student at Clarkson University.

MARGARET (Francesca Blanchard) is a classmate of Walter’s. They become fast friends and together they have an adventurous summer, traveling the countryside and meeting some unforgettable characters. Margaret lives above the diner her family owns in town.

Francesca Blanchard began with vocal recitals in France at age ten. She first hit the stage as an actor when she moved to Vermont in 2002 as Gladys in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. In equity productions with the Vermont Stage Company she played Scout in "To Kill a Mockingbird" (age 10), Jack in "A Child's Christmas in Wales" (age 11) and Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (age 12). Francesca also played Annie in a middle school play. After appearing in a few shorts, this is her first feature film project.

JOHN (John Kiedaisch) is the town mechanic. His shop is transitioning from farm machinery that is pulled by horses to machinery run by tractors. Walter spends a lot of time at John's shop.

This is John Kiedaisch’s first feature film.  After practicing architecture for thirty-five years, he studied acting in the University of Vermont Theater Department, appeared in several stage plays including “The Crucible” as Giles Corey and “Night of the Iguana” as Nano, and served asthe Technical Director of the Vermont Stage Company for five years. John has also had lead roles in several short films.

EVELYN (Laura Raynor) has been away for years and returns. Her time away has not changed the townspeople’s feelings for her. She stays in town briefly, leaving only after she has found what she wanted.

Laura Raynor has appeared in lead roles in over fifty plays in New York, Los Angeles and throughout Europe. Her awards include the James and Noni Doolittle Best Actor Award, Los Angeles; and the Spotlight-On Award for Best Actress, NYC. Film and television appearances include “Songwriter”, “Beulaland”, “Portrait of a Showgirl”, “Life Goes On.”

ADA (Jennifer Blanchard) runs the diner in town. It is a local gathering place where people discuss their differences over coffee.  She lives upstairs with her daughter Margaret.

After many years of international nursing, Jennifer attended "Acting Internationale" in Paris for two years and went on to complete a certificate program in drama therapy. She played in several community theater productions in France, but has largely been occupied by children, painting and nursing since her return to the USA four years ago. This is her first film experience.

MRS. BAILEY (Ramona Godfrey) runs the local grain store. A tough business woman who tries to give others the benefit of the doubt, she never sees what the boys are hiding.

Ramona Godfrey has appeared in many local stage productions, a couple of commercials and a few independent films. Speaking roles in films include "Mud Season", "Generation Gaps" (a RETN - Playhouse 16 production), "Town Meeting", and "The Wedding Guest". You can catch glimpses of her in three of Edgewood Studio's productions and in Off The Grid Productions' film, "Nothing Like Dreaming". Ramona will be appearing as Ouiser in the May 2006 Hyde Park (VT) production of "Steel Magnolias."
